Help and troubleshooting

Most problems clear with a reload or a look at the popup. Work down the list that matches yours, then get in touch if it still fails.

01Troubleshooting

Try these first.

Check that YTAdskip is enabled on chrome://extensions.
Open the popup: the master switch should be on and the status line should read “All blocking enabled”.
Reload the YouTube tab. Tabs opened before a change keep the old settings until they reload.
Turn the extension off and on again from chrome://extensions.
Clear cookies and cached files for youtube.com, then try again.

YouTube changes its layout and ad formats often. Some ads may get through until the extension is updated.
Reload the page. Video ad blocking only takes effect on pages loaded after it was switched on.
Open the popup and check which controls are on. Each ad type has its own switch.
Make sure Chrome and the extension are up to date.
Disable other ad blockers on YouTube. Two blockers on the same page can trigger YouTube’s playback error screen.

YTAdskip supports Chrome and Chromium-based desktop browsers.
Use the latest version of your browser.
Check whether another extension is changing YouTube pages at the same time.
The extension needs site access on youtube.com. Chrome’s site-access setting can restrict it.
Mobile Chrome does not support extensions.

How do I install it?: Open the Chrome Web Store listing and choose Add to Chrome. Chrome confirms the installation and the YTAdskip icon appears in the toolbar.
What happens to my data?: Blocking runs in your browser. Analytics is a separate choice: only if you accept does YTAdskip collect the web URLs you visit, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can change that choice at any time from the popup footer.
Does it work on mobile?: No. Mobile Chrome does not support extensions, so YTAdskip works on desktop browsers only.
Will it slow down my browser?: YTAdskip is a small extension designed to stay lightweight. If you notice a problem, turn off individual controls or contact support.
What does it support?: YouTube in Chrome: regular videos, Shorts and embedded YouTube players. Other websites and video services are not supported.
